Opinion Pieces are a whole different beast. Instead of telling you what the researchers have found, I get to tell you what I think about something! Don't get me wrong, a lot of research is still done behind the scenes; my ideas are always informed by what is actually happening in the world and what the experts think about what is happening in the world.
But what is really fun is that I get to share my opinion; something REALLY frowned upon in academic research and writing. 
For example, my piece that you will find here on organics - I am 100% convinced that we need to buy organic to help save our environment, our farmers, our pickers, our soil, our animals, and ourselves. However, there is research that suggests maybe not everything needs to be fully organic. When I write an opinion piece, I get to forget about all that extra noise, and tell you why I think we need to buy organic. 
And from what I've found, I can tell you that I purchase organic unless there is literally no other choice. And even then, most of the time I just won't buy it then.
